Matthew D. Anthes

Matthew Anthes heads up the Liberty Square Group’s Washington DC Office. Mr. Anthes serves as Senior Vice President for Federal Relations and Government Markets, providing federal, state and local marketing expertise as well as government relations counsel to clients. He has over twelve years of experience advising and assisting corporate clients concerning procurement and public policy issues, where he has provided acquisition expertise on major procurements across the government spectrum.

Focusing mainly on homeland security, information technology, and education, Mr. Anthes assists clients in identifying, qualifying, and capturing federal funding.  Mr. Anthes provides strategic guidance, lead generation, and tactical marketing assistance for corporate clients with a focus on the federal government, and the Commonwealths of Massachusetts and Virginia.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Anthes served as Director, Federal Affairs for over seven years at the largest independent government relations firm in Washington, DC.  In total, he has spent over twelve years at Washington DC based government relations firms assisting clients with transforming their commercial successes into federal market share.  He has provided the advice and support for clients to succeed in the federal marketplace by overseeing the General Services Administration’s Federal Supply Schedule process from inception to award.  Mr. Anthes has secured GSA contracts for Fortune 500 corporations as well as start-up companies.

Mr. Anthes also served as an intern and Special Assistant to the Clinton Administration’s Political Director, where he developed political landscape briefings for members of the Cabinet and served as a link between the Executive Office of the President and elected officials nationwide.

A resident of Alexandria, Virginia, Mr. Anthes is active in local politics. He has served as Chair of the Lee District Democratic Committee and as a political appointee to the Fairfax County Citizen Corps Council in Virginia. Currently, he serves on the Homeland Security Foundation of America’s Board of Directors. He is a graduate of Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts and pursued graduate course work in public policy at Georgetown University.
